To transition into an eco-industrial park, it must meet higher standards of environmental and social responsibility. This includes adopting resource-efficient production methods, reusing waste materials and energy, and minimizing environmental impacts. Eco-industrial parks focus on sustainability while fostering economic benefits and innovation.
GEIPP
Our partnership with UNIDO has given us many opportunities, including participation in their Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program (GEIPP). GEIPP aims to assist industrial parks into becoming more eco-friendly by improving economic, environmental, and social performance, as well as their resource productivity, to contribute to a more sustainable industrial development. Our 2 main focuses are industrial symbiosis and energy efficiency. Project objective: To demonstrate the effectiveness of eco-industrial park (EIP) methods in boosting resource efficiency while enhancing the economic, environmental, and social performance of businesses. This aims to support inclusive and sustainable industrial growth in Egypt. The expected outcome is improved performance of industries through the application of EIP strategies in selected pilot industrial parks, and a stronger presence of EIPs in Egypt's environmental, industrial, and policy frameworks at the national level.
