OIP’s New Development in Sokhna Champions Sustainable Manufacturing and Innovation
The Green Industrial Hub (GI-Hub) marks a bold new chapter in Orascom Industrial Parks’ (OIP) legacy of pioneering industrial development. Located in Sokhna within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the park is Egypt’s first purpose-built eco-industrial park, designed to promote sustainability, innovation, and resource efficiency across every aspect of its planning and operations.
Spanning 3.35 million square meters, GI-Hub builds on the success and foundation of the Suez Industrial Development Complex (SIDC) while introducing a next-generation model for green manufacturing. The project is currently under site preparation, with its first phase expected to be operational in Q4 of 2026, and full completion targeted within 10 years. Once complete, the hub will create over 29,000 jobs and host a diverse mix of local and international manufacturers operating in green energy, water desalination, automotive components, and advanced materials.
Designed with a focus on circular economy principles, GI-Hub integrates modern infrastructure with sustainable technologies that minimize environmental impact and optimize resource use. The park’s master plan includes water recycling systems, energy-efficient utilities, solid waste management solutions, and renewable power infrastructure, creating a self-sustaining industrial ecosystem that aligns with global sustainability standards.
The initiative directly supports Egypt Vision 2030 and the country’s commitment to sustainable industrialization. As Egypt accelerates its transition to a green economy, GI-Hub stands as a national model for how industrial growth can drive both environmental responsibility and economic progress. The park is envisioned to serve as a home for green manufacturers and industries that contribute to clean energy, including solar power, electric batteries, and renewable technology production.
“The Green Industrial Hub reflects our belief that industrial growth and environmental responsibility are complementary goals, not competing priorities,” stated Eng. Amr El Batrik, CEO of Orascom Industrial Parks. “This project demonstrates how Egypt can lead the region in sustainable manufacturing by integrating global best practices with local expertise and long-term vision.”
GI-Hub’s location in Sokhna offers distinct strategic advantages. Positioned near the Suez Canal and Egypt’s primary maritime and logistics routes, GI-Hub will give manufacturers unparalleled access to export markets, enabling them to integrate into regional and global value chains. This geographic positioning is complemented by the SCZone’s competitive incentives, including 0% customs and VAT, 50% corporate tax refunds, and full foreign ownership, reinforcing Egypt’s position as a leading investment destination.
As the park takes shape, OIP is also advancing plans for a Green Industrial Hub Innovation Program, designed to attract clean-tech startups and research initiatives that can enhance industrial sustainability. This reflects the company’s broader commitment to serve existing industries and nurture the next generation of innovators driving the green transition.
Once operational, GI-Hub will redefine Egypt’s industrial landscape, setting new standards for how infrastructure, technology, and environmental stewardship can come together to create long-term economic and social value. Building on OIP’s 25-year track record, it represents the future of responsible growth: an industrial hub built for sustainability, powered by innovation, and driven by collaboration.
